CoachVision

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers. Anything missing — support@coachvision.app.

How does CoachVision work?

You upload a 10–20 second phone clip of your technique. Body-tracking software measures your movement frame by frame — joint angles, timing, balance — and Coach Vee turns those measurements into a 0–100 score, the one fix that matters most, and one drill to work on it. An analysis takes about a minute.

How does the scoring work?

Each sport has a set of technique checkpoints (things like weight shift, tempo, or elbow alignment) computed directly from body tracking. Your 0–100 score is a weighted blend of those checkpoints. On beta sports, some scores are AI estimates rather than direct measurements — those are clearly labeled in the analysis.

I scored in the 90s — am I basically a pro?

Honest answer: not necessarily. The score measures how cleanly you executed the fundamentals the camera could see — rhythm, timing, positions — not how difficult your run was. Smooth, simple riding can score very high; a pro throwing something gnarly is doing harder things the score doesn't reward yet. Difficulty-aware scoring is on our roadmap, and until then a high score means exactly one thing: your measured fundamentals are clean.

Which sports does CoachVision cover?

13 sports today: Skimboarding, Surfskate, Golf, Surfing, Basketball, Squat, Baseball Hitting, Pickleball, Tennis Serve, Deadlift, Archery, Cheer Jumps, Fly Casting. Every sport is included on the free plan.

What camera or phone do I need?

Any modern smartphone camera works. No sensors, no wearables, no special hardware — the body tracking runs on a normal video clip.

How should I film my clip?

Keep your whole body in frame, film from a steady position (prop the phone or have a friend hold it), get reasonably close, and keep the clip to roughly 10–20 seconds around the action. Each sport's page and the in-app filming guide give sport-specific angles.

Is my video private?

Yes. Your clips are stored so we can deliver and re-show your analysis — that's it. They are never sold, never used for ads, and never shared publicly unless you create a share link yourself. Delete your account and your data is deleted.

What do I get for free?

3 analyses every month, across every sport, plus your journal, drills, badges, XP, streak and practice heatmap — free forever, no credit card. Two things are limited beyond the monthly count: the score-trend chart shows your most recent 10 analyses (your personal best is still measured against all of them), and streak repair is Pro-only. And you only spend an analysis when we can give you a full score: a failed analysis, a read that comes back without an overall score, or a read the camera narrowed by moving, doesn't count toward the 3.

What does Pro actually unlock?

Three things, and only three. Unlimited analyses instead of 3 a month, on every sport. Your full score-trend history instead of the most recent 10 analyses. And streak repair — one repair per calendar month. Everything else in the app is the same on both plans: every sport, the full journal, drills, badges, XP and levels, and the coach's-eye scene read on the sports that have one.

What is streak repair?

If you miss a single practice day, Pro lets you cover it so the streak either side of it joins back up. The limits, plainly: one repair per calendar month, one missed day at a time (not a two-day gap), the missed day has to be within the last 7 days, and there has to be a real run of at least 2 days on the far side of it to reconnect. If you still have a streak freeze banked it will cover the day automatically and for free, so we won't spend your repair on it. A repaired day stays marked on your practice heatmap as repaired, not as practice — the streak number counts it, the record of what you actually did does not.

How much is Pro?

Pro is $12.99/month. One price, every sport, cancel anytime.

How do I cancel?

From your settings, open the billing portal and cancel — anytime, no email required, no retention hoops. Your journal and scores stay yours on the free plan.

What's the refund policy?

If something went wrong with a charge, email support@coachvision.app and we'll make it right.

What happens if I upload the wrong sport, or the analysis fails?

That one's on us. You only spend an analysis when we can give you a full score — if the coach can't get a clean read (wrong sport, body out of frame, bad light), the read comes back without an overall score, or the camera moved so only part of the movement could be scored, it doesn't count against your quota and you can retry immediately.

Do I need equipment trackers or sensors?

No. CoachVision tracks your body only — nothing attaches to your club, board, or ball. That also means we're honest about the limits: the coach can't see club face angle or ball spin, so it never scores you on things the camera can't verify.

What does 'beta sport' mean?

Beta sports have real body-tracked coaching, but some of their scores are AI estimates rather than direct measurements — and the analysis labels which is which. Full-tier sports use measured checkpoints throughout.

What's on the roadmap?

Every beta sport is on a path to the measured full tier. The goal is the same everywhere: measured technique scores, one fix, one drill.

Who built CoachVision?

A skimboarder chasing a pro career who couldn't find coaching — so the coach that didn't exist got built. That's why CoachVision is the first AI coach for skimboarding and surfskate.
